Parent
Involvement Program
(“PIP”)
is a
program designed to
involve our parents in
daily school activities.
Every family is required
to volunteer their time
at school at a minimum
of 8 hours per child;
families with two
children = 16 hours,
three or more children
are required= 20 hours
maximum per year.
All hours must be
completed by the end of
the school year.
For those unable to
meet the yearly
requirement, PIP hours
may be exchanged for a
$10.00 per hour cash
donation payable to the
OLPH Annual Fund. A
$150.00 maximum
assessment will be
charged per family.
However, it is not
our desire to turn the
PIP program into another
fundraising activity.
Family participation not
only helps to make the
cost of Catholic
education more
equitable, but allows
more of our community to
participate in our
mission of “Academic
Excellence in the Sacred
Tradition”. Research
shows that when parents
are involved schools
improve and student
performance increases.
Please keep in mind
it is not our desire to
turn the PIP program
into another fundraising
activity. Your family’s
participation makes the
cost of Catholic
education equitable and
allows more of our
community to participate
in our mission of
“Academic Excellence in
the Sacred Tradition”.
A list of activities
that qualify as service
for the PIP program is
available in the
registration packet,
from the teachers, as
well as on and is also
available online at
www.myolph.com.
Also your child’s
teacher is an excellent
source of information.

your teacher at an open
house or a

A word about Virtus:
What is Virtus
training, and why does
the Diocese of Knoxville
require it before I can
help with some in-school
projects?
The word Virtus
derives from Latin and
means valor, moral
strength, excellence,
and worth. The Virtus
programs assist the
Church in being a safe
haven for children and a
messenger for preventing
child sexual abuse
within the Church and
society in general.*
Virtus training is
available on an ongoing
basis throughout the
Diocese of Knoxville.
The 3 hour course
entitled “Protecting
God’s Children” is
offered in seminar
format, and schedules
are posted regularly in
the East Tennessee
Catholic. More
information about Virtus
training can be found on
the Diocesan website
www.dioceseofknoxville.org
, and
www.virtus.org.
