The virtue for the month
of October is “friendship”. Friendship is the virtue that helps us form strong
and unselfish relationships with other persons. They should help us grow as a
person, and lead us to develop and grow in other virtues.

Because of the wonderful
response from last year, we are again holding parent/teacher conferences during
one evening (October 30, 4:00 to 7:30) and one morning (October 31,
8:00 to 11:30). Parents will have an opportunity to sign up for a time slot at
the Home and School meeting on October 22. Any parent who cannot make this
meeting will have an opportunity to sign up via a form that will be sent home
October 23. We encourage all parents to attend a conference, and we suggest that

HOME AND SCHOOL MEETING
is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22
from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the school gym. Mr. Perry Storey, principal at NDHS will
be a guest speaker. Babysitting will be available in the cafeteria beginning at
5:45. Hot dogs, chips, drinks, and desserts will be provided for all children in
the cafeteria.
Report cards will be sent
home October 22. ALL OUTSTANDING BALANCES MUST BE PAID. THIS INCLUDES LUNCH,
AFTER CARE, BEFORE CARE, AND TUITION. IN ADDITION, ALL OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS
AND SPORTS UNIFORMS MUST BE TURNED IN.
8th graders:
A stamped, self-addressed envelope
must accompany your teacher and counselor recommendations requested by Notre
Dame High School.
Please visit St.
Cecilia’s Closet, stocked with gently
used OLPH School uniforms and First
Communion apparel. All proceeds benefit CAG (Creative Arts Guild of OLPH School)
which assists in purchasing supplies for art, music and band. St. Cecilia’s
Closet is open during school office hours, Monday through Friday, 7:45 to 3:30. Payments may be dropped off in the school office. Also, CAG is still
accepting donations of shoes for a mission field in
Haiti.
OKTOBERFEST RAM RUN
will be Saturday, October 25. The 5K starts at
9:30 am and the 1 mile at 10:30 am. This year the
course will start and end at the Chattanooga Market. For information on

OKTOBERFEST
is October 25 and 26 at the Chattanooga Market. Oktoberfest will kick off with
the Ram Run on Saturday, October 25 and continue through Sunday, October 26. The
weekend celebration includes live music, German food and handcrafted art from
local vendors. The Chattanooga Market is located inside the First Tennessee
Pavilion at 1826 Carter Street.
OLPH FOOD DRIVE: Please help the 3rd
grade Brownie troupe gather food for the OLPH Church food pantry and Ladies of
Charity. The food theme for October is “breakfast items” – cereal,
grits, pancake mix, syrup and canned fruit. Boxes are located in the
entryway of each school building. Different food themes will be announced
each month. Also, a reminder that OLPH Church “Good Samaritan” food
drive is the first Sunday of every month. Thank you for your support!
A Spanish Enrichment program
is being offered to students in grades 4th through 8th
beginning Friday, October 24. This program will be conducted by parent
volunteers who are native speakers. The purpose of this enrichment program is to
increase the vocabulary and comprehension, improve the pronunciation, and
stimulate the conversation in Spanish. The first meeting on October 24th
will be at 3:30 in the school library; parents are welcome to attend this
introductory session. An information sheet was sent home with each student in
those grades. Interested parents/students need to return the bottom half of the

THE OLPH BOOSTER CLUB
has a few Ram blankets and ball caps
for sale. These would make great Christmas gifts! Samples of each
are on display in the school office. Blankets are $20 each; ball caps are $10
each. Send your payment to the school office and the items will be sent home
with your student.
7TH GRADE MATH
HELP: Dawn Signiski has volunteered to
help 7th graders with current and past pre-algebra topics. She will
be available each Wednesday from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm in Mrs.
Melton’s classroom. Students interested in participating should go to Mrs.
Melton’s classroom after school on any Wednesday. Pick up will take place
outside of the 7th/8th grade building (St. Elizabeth Ann
Seton Hall) at 3:30. Students not picked up by 3:45 will be sent to Aftercare.
Ms. Sumrell or Mrs. Hetzler will conduct Math Help on days that Mrs. Signiski is
not available.

will earn 50% of each sale. Online orders may be placed until Thanksgiving. When

ATTENTION ALL FORMER OLPH
FOOTBALL PLAYERS, TEAM MEMBERS AND COACHES!
The Football Program is celebrating 60 years of
football at OLPH. Plans are underway for a Bowl Game and luncheon on Saturday,
October 25th sponsored by Outback steakhouse. The luncheon and video
presentation will be in the PLC beginning at Noon; the game is scheduled to
begin at 1:30. There will be a mass photograph at halftime on the football

Strategic Planning Parent
In-Put session will be held Tuesday,
October 28, 6:30 to 7:30 pm, in St. Patrick Hall (5th/6th
grade building). Trained moderators will facilitate these sessions. Childcare
will be available. Each session is limited to 50 families so please RSVP to
